COMPANY POLICY
Thank you for choosing Local Best Movers. We appreciate your business. To ensure a smooth and successful move, please carefully review our policies below.
Customer Responsibilities During Your Move
1. Guidance, Payment, and Final Walk-Through: You (or your designated representative) must be present during the entire move to provide instructions and address any concerns. Upon completion, please do a final walk-through to confirm all items have been loaded/unloaded. Payment in full is due immediately following the walk-through. We accept cash, debit cards, or credit cards (VISA, MC, DISCOVER, AMEX). A 3% processing fee applies to credit/debit card payments.
2. Long Distance / Interstate Moves: For long-distance moves, we require a 10% non-refundable deposit to secure your crew and truck. 50% is due at pick-up (after deducting the deposit), and the remaining 50% before unloading. Payment options are cash, debit, or credit card (3% fee for credit/debit). Please note that changes to your inventory or additional services on a moving day may alter the total cost, even with an existing estimate in place.
3. Parking Arrangements: You are responsible for securing any necessary parking permits. It's always best to obtain permits to guarantee a convenient parking space for our truck. If no close parking is available when we arrive, your move time will still begin as the crew searches for parking. The driver reserves the right to park in the most accessible location, even if it results in parking tickets or double parking. You are responsible for paying for any parking tickets incurred by our crew.
4. Loading / Unloading: If Local Best Movers only provide loading or unloading services, we cannot be held responsible for damage occurring during transport. We are responsible only for items in our immediate care.
5. Local Move Payment: You must pay in full by the end of the job. We accept cash, VISA, MC, DISCOVER, or AMEX (4.9% fee for credit/debit). Please have your chosen payment method ready to minimize delays.
Damages and Claims
6. Insurance, Reporting Damages, and Required Documentation: Any damage or missing items must be reported in writing to our claims department within one month of delivery. For your protection, it's critical to note any damage on the Bill of Lading before the movers leave. Failure to note damage at the time of the move may affect your claim's eligibility. We cannot process a claim without full payment of your moving costs. Please be aware that basic insurance coverage amounts may vary and not fully cover the value of your belongings.
Move Specifics
7. Refrigerators and Freezers: These must be emptied before we can move them. Please allow ample time for defrosting.
8. Aquariums: Aquariums must be fully emptied of water, fish, and any decorative items.
9. Grandfather Clocks: For safe transport, please remove the pendulum, chimes, and weights and pack them separately.
10. Waterbeds: We can move waterbeds, but we are not waterbed experts. You must drain the waterbed completely and give it ample time to dry internally. You are responsible for the final inspection and any adjustments after set-up before our crew leaves.
11. Furniture Drawers: Please empty all drawers to reduce furniture weight and prevent items from shifting during transport. In some cases, drawers may need to be removed for safe maneuvering.
12. Last-Minute Changes: If you significantly change the scope of your move (e.g., additional rooms, extra stops) on a moving day, we may need to reschedule the added work to accommodate our existing schedule and ensure fair service for all clients. To avoid potential delays and extra fees, please provide an accurate and thorough inventory of your belongings when booking your move. If you anticipate changes, please notify Local Best Movers as soon as possible.
13. Flat Screen TVs: We will transport your TVs with care, but due to their delicate nature, we cannot be responsible for non-functioning TVs after delivery, unless there is visible external damage directly caused by our movers. Original packaging provides the best protection during transport. ... (Remainder of policy sections)
14. Weather Conditions: Local Best Movers may reschedule your move in the event of severe weather.
15. Crew Size: Local Best Movers reserves the right to determine the appropriate crew size for each move based on our assessment of the inventory, access considerations, and current scheduling commitments. If you are concerned about the crew size being sufficient for your move, please provide as much detail about your belongings and the residence layout as possible when scheduling your move.
16. Driver Hours: For your safety, we adhere to limits on driver work hours and may adjust your move accordingly.
17. Appliances: Please unplug, defrost, and fully empty all appliances before the movers' arrival. Local Best Movers is not responsible for any damage resulting from improper preparation of appliances. We are also not responsible for plumbing, electrical issues, or water damage related to the connection or disconnection of washers and dryers. If you need assistance with appliance preparation, consider hiring a specialized service or inquire with Local Best Movers if this assistance can be arranged for an additional fee.
Heavy Items and Limitations
18. Heavy Items: Our team is equipped to handle heavy items (pianos, appliances, safes, etc.). We'll take precautions to protect your floors but cannot be responsible for potential floor damage due to the excessive weight of these items. If you have concerns about specific flooring, you may wish to place protective coverings in high-traffic areas before our arrival.
19. Pianos: Pianos require specialized moving techniques. Please send photos of the piano, including the stairs or any tight spaces it will need to be moved through. This will help us determine the crew size and equipment needed. Upright pianos may incur additional fees.
20. Electronic Equipment: We'll transport your electronics with care. However, we are not liable for the working condition of electronics unless there is visible external damage directly caused by our movers. We are not responsible for any damage to electronics packed by you. Original packaging and secure packing are crucial to protect electronic components during transport.
21. Extraordinary Value Items: Items of extraordinary value (jewelry, precious metals, artwork, rare collectibles, etc.) require special handling and insurance considerations. Please notify us in advance of any such items so we can determine appropriate transport methods. We will not carry these items unless a written agreement is in place, and additional valuation charges may apply.
22. Pressed Wood Furniture: Due to its construction, pressed wood or manufactured wood furniture is prone to damage during disassembly, transport, and reassembly. While we will take care, we cannot be responsible for damage to this type of furniture.
23. Packing Materials: All packing materials (tape, boxes, bubble wrap, etc.) are charged in addition to move costs unless a flat rate or hourly packing rate is provided. You must properly pack fragile items with cushioning to prevent breakage. Packing fragile items in clothing or towels is not considered proper packing.
24. Illegal Items: Your belongings may not contain any illegal substances, materials, or anything that would be unlawful in your state or within the continental United States.
25. Flammable and Hazardous Items: We will not transport any flammable, combustible, or hazardous items. This includes fuels, paints, cleaning solvents, or any items that can pose a danger due to their chemical properties.
